National Railway Infrastructure Company is going to significantly upgrade the mechanisation for the maintenance of the railway with the aim to reduce the time for the restoration of traffic in emergency situations. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Biser Minchev at a seminar on technical innovations in rail transport, organized by Plasser & Theurer.
‘With the implementation of the projects under the operational programmes for three programming periods, the share of the railway routes for speeds above 130 km/h is increasing,” Deputy Minister Minchev said. According to him, this requires greater accuracy and precision in the maintenance of railways and the implementation of new technological solutions.
‘The total value of the contracts concluded by NRIC for the supply of new railway mechanisation and means of transport is over BGN 92 million It is expected that 14 new machines of different types will be delivered in phases by mid-2026 for maintenance of the railway,’ the Deputy Minister said. He added that three more contracts worth BGN 14 million for 23 new machines are to be signed this year. By 2027, the equipment for ongoing maintenance and repair of the narrow-gauge railway Septemvri — Dobrinishte will be renewed, it became clear during the event.
The seminar was attended by representatives of National Railway Infrastructure Company, Railway Administration Executive Agency, TSV EAD, as well as companies from the railway sector.
