By the end of the year National Railway Infrastructure Company will announce the tenders for the rehabilitation of the railway sections Orizovo-Mihaylovo and Sofia-Voluyak. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Velik Zanchev during the Seventh Discussion Forum "Building in 2018 - Prospects and Challenges", organized by the Bulgarian Construction Chamber and “Stroitel” newspaper. In his words, the order for construction of signaling and telecommunication systems on the railway line Plovdiv-Burgas will be announced within a few months.
"In July we launched the procedures for construction of the railway sections from Septemvri to Kostenets and from Kostenets to Elin Pelin, financed by European funds. Unfortunately, we do not have selected contractors yet, as both are being appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court", said Velik Zanchev.
The Deputy Minister added that 6 large infrastructure projects are funded under the OP “Transport and Transport Infrastructure”, as in a separate priority axis, 68 million Euros are allocated for the deployment of intelligent transport systems. In this way, the traffic management systems, safety and security in the various modes of transport will be upgraded.
2018 will be decisive for the completion of “Struma” Highway, as our expectations are that by the end of next year there will be a contractor for the most difficult section of the Kresna defile – LOT 3.2. This will allow the construction works between Krupnik and Kresna to start in 2019, said Velik Zanchev.
Regarding Metropolitan, Deputy Minister Zanchev noted that the project is implementing at very good rates. The first stage, which crosses the city's central area, soon will reach 50% physical implementation, which is a significant advance given its complexity.
