Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Velik Zanchev awarded the winner in the category "Railway Infrastructure". The first prize in the category was for the project "Modernization of the railway section Septemvri-Plovdiv, part of the Trans-European Railway Infrastructure, Position 3: Stamboliiski-Plovdiv". The initiative “Infrastructure Bulgaria Awards 2018” was organized by the City Media Group.
During the event, which was held yesterday evening, two more projects of National Railway Infrastructure Company were awarded - "Construction of Intermodal Terminal in the South Central Planning Region in Bulgaria-Plovdiv" and "Reconstruction and electrification of the railway line Plovdiv - Svilengrad on Corridors IV and IX, Parvomai-Svilengrad Section".
The Grand Prize for the infrastructure project of the decade was awarded to Sofia Municipality for the construction of the Sofia Metro, which is financed by OP Transport and OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure. The total amount of funds under the two Operational Programs for this project is approximately BGN 1.82 billion.
The prizes for contribution to Bulgaria's infrastructure development of 2018 are one of the most prestigious initiatives in the sector. They are awarded every two years and a 17-member jury of experts, industry and academics nominates the winners in the five categories. The categories are: “Transport and Road Infrastructure”, “Railway Infrastructure”, “Energy Infrastructure”, “Urban Environment” and “Environmental Infrastructure”.
The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications jointly with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Ministry of Environment and Water and Ministry of Energy is a partner of the event.
