It is of particular importance for Bulgaria to take advantage of the added value of the projects resulting of cooperation within the 16+1 Initiative, Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Velik Zanchev said during a meeting with the president of the Chinese Railway Group Limited (CREC) Zongyan Zhang. The Chinese company is in Bulgaria to take part in a business forum, part of the Seventh Meeting of the Heads of Government of Central and Eastern European countries and China.
During the meeting were discussed the main railway routes for which our country is looking for funding. Deputy Minister Zanchev stressed on key cooperation for Bulgaria with acknowledged companies such as CREC, with proven capacity in the construction of railway infrastructure.
Zongyan Zhang said that the company has a strong interest in deepening co-operation with Bulgaria within the 16 + 1 initiative. He said that the China-Europe rail corridor is currently under construction and that the country hopes that Bulgaria will offer suitable routes for inclusion in the corridor. According to Zongyan Zhang, China has a keen interest in building a platform for sharing of Chinese experience and training staff in Bulgaria. CREC is ready to discuss funding for Bulgarian rail projects as well as signing of capacity building agreements.
China Railway Group Limited is a construction company, whose major shareholder is the state-owned China Railway Engineering Corporation (CRECG). By revenue, CREC is the largest construction company in the world in 2015. In 2016, CRECG ranks in the 7th place among Top 500 Chinese Enterprises.
