Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov took part in the Rating of universities in Bulgaria - 2024 official ceremony, organized by the 24 hours newspaper. He presented awards in the fields of National Security and Architecture, Construction and Geodesy to the Academy of the Ministry of Interior.
‘I feel a great and sincere embarrassment because I have to express to you - distinguished and renowned professors, academicians and teachers of Bulgaria, that you are the people who shape not only today's Bulgaria, but also what we dream for future Bulgaria. You are preparing the people who lead the social, economic and political life in Bulgaria,’ Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadzhov said.
‘I am a law graduate, and you, our university professors, surpass me by several stature, if I may express myself figuratively. Therefore, it is not right for me to speak to you about education, but I can declare clearly that, above all others, the priority for the new government is education. Because everything that is Bulgaria, such as politics, economy, art, music, non-profit sector, social sector, etc., is produced by you. I bow to you and thank you,’ Deputy Prime Minister Karadzhov added.
The ceremony is held for the ninth consecutive year and rewards the best universities in Bulgaria that are first in professional fields in the country's rating system. The ceremony was attended by the Bulgarian European Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria Yordanka Chobanova, the Minister of Education and Science Krassimir Valchev, the Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev, the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Evelina Slavcheva, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of St. Ivan Rilski University of Mining and Geology and member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy Nikolay Valkanov, chancellors of higher education institutions, among others.
