The per diem rates for international drivers will be paid as per the requirements of the Bulgarian legislation. That became clear after conversations between the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Hristo Alexiev and the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Galab Donev. Minister Alexiev said that would keep the competitiveness of the Bulgarian drivers on the European markets and would save one of the main sectors in the Bulgarian economy.
We do remind that in a meeting with Minister Alexiev, which was held last month, the transport undertakings raised the question for the new European requirements for posting under which the allowances paid to the employees must be as per the minimum requirements in the countries, which they are travelling to. From the industry required the Bulgarian state to come up with a statement on the issue as they expressed opinion that the implementation of such requirements for the international drivers would lead to a multiple increase of their costs, creation of significant difficulties in the payment of the salaries and reporting of the worked hours in each country.
Minister Alexiev thanked to the Minister Donev for the understanding and fast reaction on solving the issue with the posting of international drivers. The statement of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy is available on the website of the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” section “News and communications”.
