Experts from EA "Maritime Administration" reported on the progress of the project "Integrated Bulgarian Maritime Surveillance" (InBulMarS). The event was attended by representatives of the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) of the European Commission and of the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission, the participants and the project observers.
Partners in the Integrated Maritime Surveillance Project are DG Border Police, “Customs” Agency, the Navy, State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” and the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture and the funding is provided under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. Observers of the project are the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
During the meeting the participants were informed on the stage of implementation of the activities and the compliance with the established timesheet. The key features and functionality of marine surveillance systems that are being operated by project partners were presented. In addition, the envisaged activities for the development and deployment of technical tools for integrated maritime surveillance were discussed, in particular to support the implementation, operation and maintenance of the Common Information Sharing Environment (CISE) under Priority 6. "Fostering the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy" , Measure 6.1 "Integrated Maritime Surveillance" under the Maritime and Fisheries Program 2014-2020.
The main objective of the InBulMars project is to elaborate a feasibility study to determine the needs and requirements for improving cross-sectoral information exchange in the field of maritime surveillance. It will also identify the legal and technical problems of integrating the existing national systems for surveillance of Bulgaria's maritime spaces.
The activities under the project "Integrated Bulgarian Maritime Surveillance" (InBulMarS) started on 01.01.2017 and the deadline for their implementation is 2 years. The total budget of the project is 238 820 Euro, with the amount of the grant awarded amounting to 191 056 Euro.
