By the end of the year, the application form for financing of LOT 3.1 and LOT 3.3 of “Struma” Highway will be approved by the European Commission. This was announced at a meeting today with the European Commissioners on Regional Policy, Korina Kretu and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Carmenu Vella and the ministers Ivaylo Moskovski, minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Nikolay Nankov, minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Neno Dimov, minister of Environment and Water and Nikolina Angelkova, minister of Tourism. The procedural implementation of the project was presented within the meeting.
“The Managing Authority of OP "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" undertakes to review and agree the application form for LOT 3.2, the section between Krupnik and Kresna, within the shortest possible time and send it in due time for approval by the EC". This was stated by Minister Moskovski after the talks with the two EU commissioners. He specified that in order to meet all the deadlines, the experts from the Road Infrastructure Agency should prepare the application form for financing by the end of January 2018.
Ivaylo Moskovski commented that choosing a variant for the most complex section of the highway gives confidence that the funds provided under the OPTTI, Priority Axes 2, will not be lost.
European Commissioners Corina Kretu and Carmenu Vella are expected to visit Bulgaria at the end of the year, to get acquainted with the progress of the construction project “Struma” Highway.
