The Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Sabev invited the Turkish State to hold a Ministerial Meeting and visit Kapitan Andreevo-Kapakule Border Checkpoint. The meeting is planned to take place at the end of January this year, and will be attended by representatives of the responsible institutions of the two countries. That happened in the framework of the meeting of Minister Nikolay Sabev with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bulgaria Aylin Sekizkök.
At the meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Minister Sabev will raise the issue of updating the contingent of permits exchanged annually between the two countries so that it adequately meets the needs of carriers. Minister Sabev insists on equal working conditions for Bulgarian and Turkish carriers.
"We are determined to accelerate the economic growth of Bulgaria by creating many opportunities for the transport industry. Joint actions with neighboring Turkey must ensure quick and easy passage through border crossings, as well as guarantee equal opportunities for Bulgarian and Turkish carriers", Minister Nikolay Sabev said.
In the framework of the talks with the Ambassador of Turkey, the parameters for reducing the time for trucks to pass through the border crossings between the two countries were discussed. An agreement was reached on the expansion of the capacity of the Kapitan Andreevo-Kapakule border checkpoint and the Lesovo-Hamzabeyli border checkpoint. Minister Sabev assured Ambassador Aileen Sekizkök that the Bulgarian side would offer ready to implement solutions at the forthcoming meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
Minister Nikolay Sabev informed Ambassador Aileen Sekizkyok that Bulgaria supports the construction of a Ro-Ro terminal line between the port of Bourgas and the Port of Karasu. This will improve transport connectivity between the two countries, which is of great importance for the development of the region, the Minister said. Any opportunity to increase trade between Bulgaria and Turkey and stimulate economic growth should be used, the Minister of Transport and Communications added.
