We are completely renewing the fleet of the Executive Agency"Automobile Administration"with 80 new control vehicles. This was stated by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov during a visit to the headquarters of the supplier and representative of the manufacturer, where the first equipped vehicle was presented to him. All the cars have now been delivered and their outfitting has begun. The contractor assured the minister that the vehicles will be fully completed by August this year when they will be ready for use.
Never before have so many new vehicles been purchased at once for the Agency's needs, with 29 vehicles last delivered in 2009. Currently, the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" has 74 light enforcement vehicles on the road, half of which are over 20 years old, heavily depreciated and with high mileage. "This is completely unacceptable for an EU member state which has commitments to control not only domestic but also international passenger and cargo traffic," Georgi Gvozdeykov stressed. He also pointed out that the outdated vehicle fleet significantly hinders the effective performance of the inspectors' duties and generates high maintenance and fuel costs. "That's why our team's top priority was to secure funding and completely replace the fleet. This is the only way we can have effective control, which is directly related to maintaining a high level of road safety," the minister stressed.
For the renewal of the fleet of the Executive Agency"Automobile Administration" a public tender was held and in November 2023 a contract was signed with Sofia France Auto AD for the delivery of 80 new vehicles with included equipment. The value of the contract is 6 353 674 including VAT, the funds being provided from the national budget.
