The Exectuve Agency Road Transport Administration is stepping up its control of unauthorized passenger and cargo transport during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Together with the Ministry of the Interior and the NRA, inspections have been launched in different regions of the country and at border crossings.
The joint control with the Ministry of Interior starts from tomorrow, and there will be officers on-duty in the resorts in connection with the student holiday. The inspections before the Christmas and New Year holidays will be carried out at different intervals in different territorial structures of the Exectuve Agency Road Transport Administration.
Since the beginning of the year, 174 cases of unauthorised transport of passengers and goods have been detected during road controls, of which 75 were for cars, 6 for buses and 93 for trucks. Acts were drawn up and compulsory administrative measures were applied for the established violations. The penalties provided for in the Road Transport Act are a fine of BGN 2,000 and suspension of the vehicle for up to 12 months by seizing the registration plates and documents of the vehicle.
Inspections of passenger cars are carried out jointly with the Ministry of Interior and other competent institutions, as the inspectors of the Exectuve Agency Road Transport Administration have no legal powers to carry out independent control of passenger cars, except for taxis.
