The Italian companies operating in Bulgaria support the construction of a second bridge over the river Danube at Ruse, which will significantly ease the increased traffic in the region. This was discussed today by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov and the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria H. E. Giuseppina Dzara during a meeting at the Ministry. The future facility could also help solve the problems of transporting goods along the North-South route.
The accelerated development of Corridor 8 between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea is also of strategic importance for connectivity in the region and in Europe, Minister Gvozdeykov and Ambassador Dzara said. A further ministerial meeting of the four countries through where the route passes was discussed. This will give further impetus to the implementation of the corridor, which is crucial for the connectivity and economic prosperity of the region.
Georgi Gvozdeykov stressed that Bulgaria has taken important steps for the modernization of the railway transport and will use significant financial resources under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan for this sector. Georgi Gvozdeykov and Giuseppina Dzara pointed out that Bulgaria's accession to Schengen by the end of the year is a key step that will ensure even better protection of Europe's external borders.
