The Bulgarian Institute for Metrology certified officially the centralized system for on-line ticketing and booking for the use of “BDZ-Passenger Services” Ltd. services.
All the railway stations and bureaus in the country use the system, which the Information Services JSC developed. It services all the destinations in Bulgaria. The system allows also buying tickets from the conductor in the train. It is accessible via Internet from each point in the world.
The platform gives the opportunity for the conductor in the train to perform control. In an event of clandestine passenger, the system allows not only a ticket issuing for clandestine passenger, but also a mulct issuing as per the tariffs of the National railway undertaking.
By the ticket validation, the Unit of Internal Control of “BDZ-Passenger Services” Ltd. can improve the control over the conductors’ duties performance. Each activity of the employees, who work with the system is recorded and can be tracked.
The centralized platform replaces the current ticket issuing system, which has not been updated for more than 20 years. The presented system encompasses all the activities of “BDZ-Passenger Services” Ltd. – schedules, composing of trains, routing, tariffing, control, reporting of revenues from passengers against accounting, marketing and statistical real time data.
The Information Services JSC also realized integration of automatic data entering from the Train movement schedule in real time. This will facilitate and improve significantly the work of the system and will eliminate the necessity of manual handling from the employees of “BDZ Passenger Services” Ltd. side.
The project for implementation of Centralized system for on-line ticket buying and booking was presented for the first time in the end of 2013. The first demonstration of ticket buying in train was made in the mid of this year during the official opening ceremony of Dimitrovgrad – Simeonovgrad, Lyubimets – Greek border railway sections, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Boyko Borissov, and the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski.
