Today was the first meeting of Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov with representatives of the taxi industry and trade unions in the sector.
The industry's top priority is the request to maintain the level of relief in the annual tax for taxi drivers, which for 2022 was reduced, for example in Sofia the reduction was from BGN 850 to BGN 300.
So far, the state has covered the difference by compensating municipalities for the reduction, but these funds were not provided for in the budget of the caretaker government.
Georgi Gvozdeykov undertook to hold a discussion with the Minister of Finance in order to find a solution within the current budget procedure.
The Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov ordered to immediately start work on the other demands of the taxi industry too. Some of them go beyond the competence of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and affect the work of more than one ministry.
‘In order to find quick and effective solutions to the issues raised, an expert group will be formed with the participation of industry representatives and all responsible institutions. It is necessary to prioritise the issues and address the urgent problems first,’ Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov said.
Discussions with other organisations in the Ministry of Transport and Communications system are also planned.
