The total number of issued electronic prescriptions is already 500 000 and the real actions in the field of e-Health are a good occasion to celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov stated this at a meeting today with the Management of Information Services JSC.
The introduction of the e-prescription system facilitates both patients and GPs, while reducing the risk of improper dispensing of medicines, he added.
The centralized on-line system for prescribing and dispensing of medicinal products, which was launched by the national system integrator Information Services JSC, has been already used actively by over 2 300 general practitioners and 2 100 pharmacies throughout the country, was reported during the meeting. More than 100 000 electronic referrals have been issued through the Portal.
On May 14, 2021, the integration of the Bulgarian digital certificate system, which certifies immunization against COVID-19, a negative test for the presence of virus or antibodies after an infection, with the systems of other European countries was completed. The single European Green Digital Certificate is expected to enter into force on 1 June, with the aim of facilitating the free movement in the European Union.
To date, over 170 000 people in more than 200 vaccination centers have been registered through the electronic register for supporting the vaccination process, which was developed by the Company.
Among the other important projects of the national system integrator in the field of healthcare is the Information System for Control of Medical Expertise, informed during the conversation the CEO of the company Ivaylo Filipov. Through the System have been submitted 36 000 applications, have been issued 39 000 referrals, and 17 000 expert decisions have been completed. The system transforms completely the process of issuing expert decisions to persons with permanently reduced working capacity in digital one.
