Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov met in Sofia with Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of Kosovo Liburn Aliu. Minister Gvozdeykov pointed out that transport policies and connectivity are at the heart of economic growth and deepening trade relations between the countries in the region. He stressed that Bulgaria will support at the European Union level any initiative for the development of transport connectivity in the region.
Minister Liburn Aliu presented the infrastructure projects currently being worked on in Kosovo and pointed out that the main goal is to improve connectivity with the European transport corridors in order to facilitate the movement of people and goods. Work is underway on the development of the railway line from Pristina to Durres, as well as links with neighbouring countries.
The two ministers commented on the holding of a meeting of the Joint Kosovo-Bulgaria Commission on International Road Transport in Sofia. During the meeting, the issue of the annual quota of transit freight permits will be discussed, as well as other topics in the field of road transport.
