The Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov handed over the keys of the first 50 new control vehicles to the Road Administration Agency. The remaining 30 vehicles will be equipped in a few weeks.
"With the new 80 vehicles we are completely renewing the fleet of the Road Administration Agency. This will improve the efficiency of the Agency's control activities and increase road safety," said Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov.
The Minister specified that the value of the new vehicles is just over 6.3 million leva including equipment. In addition, new summer and winter uniform clothing and footwear has been provided at a cost of around £1 million for 280 Agency staff who are required to work in uniform. Currently, the Road Administration has 74 cars for road control, half of them are over 20 years old and the newest ones were purchased in 2009.
The new Executive Director of the Automobile Administration Agency, Damian Voynovski, said that he will work to increase the efficiency of the Agency's work and the quality of its control. "We are currently developing an entirely new unified information system that will give priority to e-services. In this way we will reduce the human factor in the processing of documents and speed up the processes in the provision of services," added Damian Voinovski.
