Minister Gvozdeykov: Main priorities are modernization in rail transport and three operational bases for HEMS by the end of the year

The important tasks for the rest of the year are the finalisation of the procurement of new rolling stock funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the construction of three operational bases for air ambulance. This was stated by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov during the government's report today in the Council of Ministers, where the ministers presented their top priorities for the next nine months.

‘The modernisation of rail transport is a long process, but we have already taken the first steps and it is important to bring this key reform to completion,’ Minister Gvozdeykov stressed. According to him, this will be felt by the people very quickly and will thus promote the most environmentally friendly and innovative transport.

‘The second leading priority is the effective construction of the emergency air ambulance system and we have set ourselves the task to have 3 operational bases by the end of the year — in Sofia, Dolna Mitropolia and Sliven’, Georgi Gvozdeykov explained. He added that a pilot training plan is currently being developed and is expected to be ready by mid-year. ‘With this, the state will create an opportunity to provide the necessary capacity of personnel to fully secure the system of emergency assistance by air,’ the Transport Minister further said.
