Bulgaria and Iran attach great importance to the implementation of transit transport corridors, which will help develop connectivity between the two countries and accelerate the transport of goods. This was confirmed at a meeting today by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H. E. Ali Reza Irvash. They stressed the importance of transport for cooperation between the countries.
The establishment of alternative transit corridors could accelerate trade relations between Asia and Europe, Minister Gvozdeikov said during the talks. He stressed that the Bulgarian government's priority is the development of Corridor 8 from the Albanian port of Duras to Burgas. This route will also be able to provide connectivity to Asia.
The Bulgarian and Iranian sides expressed their willingness in principle to hold the 20th session of the Joint Commission for Economic and Scientific and Technological Cooperation. A review of the topics to be included on the agenda is to be undertaken.
