On the order of the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov, an inspection of the organization of the activities in the National Railway Infrastructure started today. The scope of the audit includes the company's financial management and controls, safety management systems, and occupational health and safety procedures.
The reason for the urgent inspection is the increasing number of incidents on the railway network, the latest of which was yesterday evening.
"We cannot allow any compromise with the safety rules in any state-owned company," said Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov. In his words, a large part of the repair work is being carried out by the NRIC without interrupting the train traffic and this requires even stronger safety measures and more serious control of the working conditions of the employees.
The deadline for the audit is till 19th of June.
