Minister Gvozdeykov and EIB Vice President Kyriacos Kakouris discussed partnership opportunities in the postal and railway sector
Opportunities for partnership in the implementation of investment policies in Bulgarian Posts EAD and in the railway sector were discussed today at a meeting between the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov and the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Kyriacos Kakouris.
‘We have the ambition to change the vision for the management of Bulgarian Posts and to use the capacity of the company to develop its maximum potential, including through new services,’ Minister Gvozdeykov said during the talks. He stressed that the first important step is the approval of the restructuring plan of the postal operator by the European Commission. ‘We will rely on financial institutions such as the EIB to find funding to implement the actions set out in this plan. The big goal is to prevent losses, to stabilize the company and to achieve better results’, Georgi Gvozdeikov said.
The two institutions have a long-standing partnership in the railway sector and discussed the continuation of joint work on the projects in the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021 — 2027.
Themeeting was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Transport and Communications Anna Mihneva-Natova and Boris Gerasimov, as well as representatives of the Bank and Bulgarian Posts EAD.
