Caretaker Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev made an unexpected inspection at the Central Railway Station in Sofia. He was accompanied by Director General of the "National Railway Company Infrastructure" (NRIC) Krassimir Papukchiyski.
During the inspection were found out irregularities related to hygiene and maintenance of the station. In this regard, Minister Alexiev ordered daily control and monitoring during cleaning of the largest railway station in the country. Minister Hristo Alexiev asked for thorough information on the cleaning company and was determined to impose financial sanctions if the situation does not improve.
Besides the poor hygiene, at the Sofia Central Railway Station were spotted leaks which should be removed from the company that has carried out the repairs within the warranty terms.
Later Minister Alexiev inspected also Poduyane Railway Station. As a result, he ordered urgent emergency repair of the station due to its poor condition. He requested inspection of the leakages, the lighting and the heating in it. Minister Hristo Alexiev ordered the establishment of emergency repair teams within the structure of NRIC to maintain the small stations.
