The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski participated in the "TEN-T Days 2016" conference. The event is organized by the European Commission, which in the current year takes place from 20 to 22 June 2016 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Minister Ivaylo Moskovski attended the conference upon the invitation of the EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc and the Minister of Infrastructure and Environment of the Netherlands Melanie Schultz van Haegen.
Minister Moskovski, together with Commissioner Bulc and the European coordinator Karla Peijs participated in a discussion related to the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Danube River and its navigable tributaries. In his intervention Minister Moskovski pointed out that one of the most serious challenges in maintaining the European waterway is the dredging in the river. He noted that we have initiated particular measures aimed at overcoming the problem.
The activities will be carried out by a contractor, selected annually after a public tender in accordance with the Action Plan for 2016 of the Joint Bulgarian-Romanian Committee on the maintenance and the improvement of the fairway of the Danube River. In addition, are explored opportunities of purchasing the equipment necessary for the maintenance of the fairway under OP "Transport and transport infrastructure" 2014-2020 and Connecting Europe Facility.
Within the Inter-institutional meeting was presented the Declaration of Rotterdam related to the development of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). In his intervention Minister Moskovski stressed the importance of the issues in the Declaration, arguing that all countries should exert efforts and give the best of themselves aimed at complete and timely construction of the TEN-T - both in terms of infrastructure and development of multimodality, freight transport logistics, intelligent transport systems, increased use of alternative fuels and etc.
