The safety and health of people is a top priority, so I expect you to propose concrete measures and actions to ensure the safety of employees and passengers by tomorrow. This was stated by Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova during a meeting today with the management of Bulgarian State Railways. She asked to be presented with short-term measures related to the control and implementation of the technical inspections of trains, a reference on the availability of spare parts for rolling stock to ensure its safe operation and an analysis of the possibilities to secure the running schedule.
"The problems in the Bulgarian railway should be openly and honestly discussed in front of the whole society," Minister Stoyanova said. She added that when discussing possible solutions as early as tomorrow, she will invite representatives of trade unions and independent railway experts to a meeting. The meeting will also be attended by the management of BDZ Holding EAD, Bulgarian State Railways-Passenger Transport EOOD and NC Railway Infrastructure.
