The state does a lot for Bulgarian Post, but now the management is on the move. This was said by the Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova at a meeting with representatives of two of the trade unions in the company - "Podkrepa" and "Protection", at their request.
The Minister recalled that the restructuring plan, which was approved by the European Commission in July 2024, allows the capital of Bulgarian Post EAD to increase by BGN 50 million. Thus, the company ceases to be a company in difficulty and will receive from the state budget compensation for the actual proven costs of universal postal service and the payment of pensions, she added.
"I expect the company's management to present a concrete management program, with indicators, steps towards growth and a product strategy, not including the funds from the state for compensation. It is not normal that 90% of the revenue is provided only by the state and only the subsidy is expected", Minister Krasimira Stoyanova was adamant.
During the meeting it became clear that Bulgarian Post employs about 6700 employees. In the second quarter of 2024 the average gross monthly salary in the country reaches BGN 2 296, and for the entire structure of Bulgarian Post it is BGN 1554.80.
Minister Stoyanova said that the moment there is any problem with the payment of an employee's salary, regardless of which branch, the members of the Board of Directors and the heads of directorates will be left without salaries.
The state has lent a hand and the possibilities for a bond loan from the Bulgarian Development Bank are being discussed, the minister added.
The trade union representatives pointed out that they see a partner in the management of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
