Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov held a working meeting with the Executive Director of the National Tourism Board Polina Karastoyanova and Deputy Chairperson of Management Board of the National Tourism Board Association, Martin Zahariev. Concrete proposals for cooperation were discussed during the talks.
The main emphasis was put on the opportunity Sofia to apply for the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2020 competition. For that purpose, the representatives of the National Tourism Board emphasized that the collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications is needed, in the field of Information Technology.
In this regard, it was noted that Bulgaria is among the top 10 countries in terms of connectivity and high quality Internet in Europe. Moreover, the price-quality ratio of the Internet also ranks our country in top positions in the EU.
Minister Jeliazkov and the management of the largest employer organization in the field of tourism agreed that the transport infrastructure development should also be accordingly the tourism industry’s point of view. In this regard, they discussed the granting of a concession of Balchik airport, which will enable the development of the potential of the Northern Black Sea coast.
