Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov discussed with his colleagues from Poland, Hungary, Lithuania and Latvia a joint strategy of the like-minded EU member states on Mobility package I. The meeting was held during the EU Transport Council Meeting in Luxembourg yesterday.
“The thorough approach to Mobility Package I should be reconsidered. We see discrepancy between measures stipulated in the legislative proposals and the outlined long-term aims in the field of transport. The texts that have been adopted in the European parliament during the first hearing, as well as those, of the common approach of the Council, are completely unacceptable base for further institutional negotiations. Joint efforts should be aimed at the establishment of a balanced and sustainable legal framework for the European transport sector”, said Rossen Jeliazkov before the transport Ministers. He underlined that the clear assessment of the consequences stemming from the legislative proposals is a milestone not only for the strengthening of the Single market but also for providing improved labor conditions in the sector.
Within next week Rossen Jelizakov will invite for a meeting representatives of the hauliers and the newly-elected Bulgarian members of EP. The main topic of the talks will be the forth-coming actions and the common steps in terms of Mobility Package I.
