An agreement to interact with the European Aviation Safety Agency will be signed to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a high level of civil aviation safety. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rossen Jeliazkov, during a hearing at the parliamentary committee. "Such co-operation agreements exist in 15 Member States and I think we need to take advantage of this mechanism, which provides a good opportunity for cooperation with the European Agency," he added.
Minister Jeliazkov said that at his invitation next month, the General Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency Patrick Ki arrived in Bulgaria. They will discuss the necessary additional measures to improve civil aviation safety in a national and European perspective.
"Our goal is to prevent all the possible risks of increasing the number, frequency and interest in civil aviation. Every day it becomes more and more accessible, "the minister said.
Rossen Jeliazkov acquainted MEPs with the Transport Committee with the preliminary measures taken to improve the operations of the Civil Aviation Administration, including the audit commissioned at the end of May. "The main problem in the findings is the high turnover of inspectors, the persons who have to control. As required, they must be pilots with a certain number of flying hours, "the transport minister stressed.
