Today, the Minister of Transport invited experts from Germany to prepare a logistical plan for the development of multimodal transport in Bulgaria and the efficiency of the transport network in our country. That was announced during a meeting between the Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Sabev, Deputy Minister Vladimir Varbanov and a representative of the Executive Board of the Port of Duisburg Thomas Schlipköter.
At the end of the previous week, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) undertook to hold a competition and send an expert in the field of rail transport.
I this way a team of European professionals in two of the most important areas will be formed at the MTC.
"Good geographical location is not enough for an efficient transport network, but it is necessary to ensure connectivity through the development of combined transport, road and rail infrastructure, inland waterways and combinations of rail and road, as well as maritime and rail infrastructure. Bulgaria's economic growth depends on ensuring good transport logistics and maximum efficiency of the corridors passing through our territory", Minister Sabev said after the meeting.
The possibilities for the development of the Istanbul-Burgas / Varna-Ruse connection (intermodal terminal) along the Rhine-Danube corridor were discussed.
Both sides expressed confidence that stable and reliable supply chain management is needed to ensure transport connectivity between Europe and Asia.
