In just two months National Railway Infrastructure Company managed to complete three important infrastructure projects — the railway stations of Stara Zagora and Iskar, as well as the connection between the port of Burgas and the interior of the country. This was said by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Biser Minchev during the opening of the reconstructed railway station Iskar in Sofia.
Deputy Minister Minchev stressed that the station is one of the main points that welcomes passengers and that is why their modernization is of such great importance.
‘Built more than 70 years ago, Iskar station occupies an important part in the railway history of Bulgaria,’ the Deputy Minister explained and added that from today a new life has been breathed into the station complex.
The scope of the project includes a complete modernization of the entire infrastructure of the site and the auxiliary technological buildings and facilities, the Director General of NRIC Maria Genova said. The event was also attended by representatives of the Management Board of NRIC, the contractor company, and others.
The reconstruction of Iskar station complex is financed by OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020 and the value of the construction contract is BGN 1 212 239.
