Still today we start to work together with the team of EU Commissioner Bulc on particular texts concerning the Mobility package, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski after yesterday’s meeting, held at the Council of Ministers with the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc and representatives of the road hauliers.
Minister Moskovski also said that the amendments will be introduced for consideration by COREPER working group and it is extremely important to reach consensus regarding this issue. “The transport sector provides more than one fifth of GDP of the country and we are obliged to protect the this industry”, commented the Minister.
In his speech EU Commissioner Bulc underlined that the meeting, organized by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, has been extremely successful and the Bulgarian government and the industry have defended their categorical position regarding the amendments of the First Mobility Package. A joint position has been expressed that the participants in the meeting shall continue the dialog and will search for a solution of the controversial issues.
The government continues the active dialog with the industry on the issue. Tomorrow at 1 p.m. Minister Ivaylo Moskovski will take part in an international Conference on “European future of transport in Central and Eastern Europe”. The event will take place in Sofia at “Balkan” hotel and is organized by the Union of international hauliers.
