The Ministry of Transport and Communications is accepting proposals until 31 August 2024 for stamp themes to be issued in 2025. The assessment, before inclusion in the thematic plan, will be carried out according to the new criteria approved at the beginning of 2024.
The stamps are traditionally used to mark round anniversaries, which according to the conditions must be a multiple of 25. They may be related to prominent Bulgarian and world public figures, scientists and cultural figures. Publications should promote developments in science, culture, art, economics, technology, sports, etc. However, topics related to commercial advertising are not approved.
The annual thematic plans include around 40 publications. All applications are assessed by the Specialised Board of Experts on Stamp Issuing. Proposals for 2025 are due by 31 May 2024. Ideas have already been received from universities, the executive and local authorities, NGOs and philatelists.
Each year the projects are commissioned to artists with experience in philatelic printmaking. For the design of some of the publications, the Ministry of Transport and Communications runs anonymous competitions.
