The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications has launched in use a postal-philatelic edition „EUROPE 2017 – castles”. Since 1992 up to the present stage, the European postal administrations have included a common edition on topic „Europe”, which is a symbol of the wish of integration and cooperation between the countries of the Old Continent. „This year the stamp has a special meaning to Bulgaria, having in mind the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union”, stated the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Lubomir Hadjiysky during the ceremony.
The edition contains two postage stamps and a special postmark. The author of the designs is Emilyan Stankev. He has selected three symbols of the Bulgarian history, architecture and culture – the only fully preserved medieval fortress Babini Vidini Kuli, the Asen’s Fortress and the Evksinograd Palace.
Today has been also launched in use the first Bulgarian stamp, dedicated to a conductor. The edition commemorates the 150th anniversary of Arturo Toscanini’s birth. He is considered as one of the most talented musicians of the late 19th and early half of the 20th century. The author of the designs is Atanas Atanasov.
