Munich Airport will have an active role and commitment to Sofia Airport development project. This became clear during the meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Alexiev with the President and CEO of Munich Airport Jost Lammers, as well as with the CEO of Sofia Airport Jesus Caballero.
Hristo Alexiev expressed dissatisfaction with the level of service offered to passengers and airlines at Sofia Airport. "SOF Connect won the concession with the best technical part of its offer. This suggests that more efforts and concrete actions should be made to be visible to users of airport services. For the last 2 years, no major changes have been noticed in this respect. I expect Munich Airport, as a participant in the project, to provide its knowledge, experience and best practices for the transformation of Sofia Airport, as it has been publicly announced", Hristo Alexiev said categorically.
A commitment was made to Munich airport within two weeks to mobilize its expert teams to be actively involved in improving the management and services offered at Sofia airport. Minister Alexiev stated that he is convinced of the potential of the airport and, together with the team he leads, is making every effort for its development, but a coordinated approach between the participants in the project is also necessary. "We have agreed and are about to sign agreements on air services with Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates. This is an additional opportunity to attract more passengers", the Deputy Prime Minister added.
