At today's meeting of the Board of Directors, the management of National Railway Infrastructure Company took a decision to terminate the announced on 07.08.2024 auctions with secret bidding for the sale of land properties, private state property, as well as for their transfer free of charge to the ownership of the Municipality of Elena for the implementation of a project for the construction of a visitor center, buffer parking and the identification of an additional number of municipal housing from the "Reserve" fund.
The properties are located in the area of the former railway station Elena, falling on the route of the railway line Gorna Oryahovitsa – Elena, the operation of which was suspended by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of 2003.
They are part of the non-operational assets of National Railway Infrastructure Company, not directly related to the core business of the Company, which requires additional costs for their management, maintenance and security.
In a conversation with the mayor of the city, the Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova assured that the ministry will take the necessary actions on its part to provide the properties and expressed confidence that the municipality will implement its investment intentions for the benefit of the citizens.
