NC "Railway Infrastructure" has implemented a modern information system that will support the planning and management of train traffic in the country. The Train Operation Management System (TOMS) was developed under a European project and represents one of the most advanced software solutions in this field.
"The system will be of great benefit both for the employees of the National Railway Infrastructure Administration and for the railway carriers, who will be able to plan their transports very easily and receive reports at any time," said Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Biser Minchev during an event to present the results of the project. According to him, this will allow more efficient planning of railway infrastructure capacity and automated calculation of infrastructure charges, which is of great benefit to business.
Deputy Minister Minchev pointed out that in addition to the renewal of the railway stock, the reconstruction of the lines and railway stations, the modernization of railway transport goes through digitalization in the management of services. "These are important processes that remain hidden from passengers, but are an integral part of the daily life of employees in the railway traffic management centres," added Biser Minchev.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, National Railway Infrastructure Company, the contractor, the business and others.
The project "Design and Implementation of Train Operation Management System in State Enterprise National Railway Infrastructure Company" is financed by OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020. The project value is BGN 7,196,900 and the contractor of the activities is RailTechnoAmES. The software is expected to be operational in December 2023.
