The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov validated a postage stamp on topic “70 years Bulgarian Civil Aviation and 15 years Bulgarian Airlines Association“.
“It is an interesting historical fact that the Bulgarian Civil Aviation owes its origination and development, namely to the necessity of letters and parcels delivery”, said the Deputy Minister during the ceremony. He reminded that year 1947 is considered as a beginning for the Bulgarian Civil Aviation, when started the transport of passengers on the regular lines. At the time was opened the Sofia-Burgas line of air communications.
Under the words of the Deputy Minister Georgi Todorov, seventy years later, Bulgaria has five international airports. In 2016, 9,5 million passengers were serviced over across them, and 34 thousand tons of freights were loaded and unloaded. Thousands of high-qualified experts and employees are employed in the aviation sector.
The Deputy Minister Georgi Todorov reminded that in 2002, the Bulgarian airline companies and the Institute of Air Transport established the Bulgarian Airlines Association. “The Organization is the reason for the consolidation of the industry in the years of transition and the free competitive market”, added the Deputy Minister.
