The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications will work as a priority for the successful implementation of the reform of the regulatory framework for electronic communications, Deputy Minister Dimitar Genovski said during the Bulgarian Association of Cable Communication Operators (ВАССО) Annual Conference 2017 "Time for Opportunities", which was held today in Sofia Event center.
Dynamic development of technology in recent years poses new challenges for all of us, said the Deputy Minister. Successful consolidation of the Digital single market is increasingly dependent on the availability of high-speed connectivity, which calls for serious investment initiatives to build broadband electronic communications infrastructure.
The basis for the successful deployment of the Digital single market are reliable, high-speed and affordable electronic networks and services for all. This requires a strong, competitive and dynamic electronic communications sector, Deputy Minister Genovski noted. The successful implementation of the reform of the regulatory framework for electronic communications provides:
- a consistent and predictable single market approach to spectrum policy and its governance;
- creating conditions for overcoming the fragmentation of the legal framework and effective consumer protection;
- ensuring equal conditions for market participants and predictable enforcement of the rules;
- stimulating investment in high-speed networks and providing a more effective legal institutional framework.
Bulgaria's priorities during the EU Presidency in the field of telecommunications and the information society will be to accelerate the process of completing a competitive and fair Digital single market and supporting connectivity within the EU, resumed Dimitar Genovski. Strengthening the confidence and security of personal data in the digital space and the development of a European data-based economy are among our core tasks in the coming months.
