The first meeting of the Public Expert Council on IT and Internet to the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications was held. Chairman of the Council is Deputy Minister Lubomir Hadjiysky. Participants in the new structure are representatives of the executive power - Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, State Agency "Electronic governance", as well as sectoral organizations such as the Bulgarian Association of Information Technology, Association "Telecommunications", the Association of electronic communications and the "Center for Internet governance ". Among the experts who will advise Minister Hristo Alexiev are representatives of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics to BAS, foundations and non-governmental structures.
During the first meeting of the Public Council, Deputy Minister Lubomir Hadjiysky recalled that the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications has good traditions in partnership with other institutions and organizations in the field of Internet governance. One example is the submitted application by the country to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for the registration of a national domain in Cyrillic.
The permanent Public Expert Council will advise on the management of strategic information resources of the country. The new structure will also monitor the process of administering the registers ".бг" and ".bg", in order to meet national policy in this area and protect the public interest.
