All new assets, built in the last few years at Port of Burgas, provide an excellent opportunity for the development of congress tourism and innovation in the seaside town. This is what the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov said today upon visiting the newly built Congress Center - Burgas, together with the Mayor of Burgas Municipality Dimitar Nikolov and the Regional Governor Valcho Cholakov.
"When the pandemic passes and we can travel without obstructions, Burgas will regain its attractiveness, both in terms of summer tourism and year-round congress tourism", the Minister added. According to him, the whole complex is aimed at young people and science, which allows for the revitalization of this part of the city and its transformation into an attraction. "Our desire is for the old infrastructure to take on a new look and develop in relation to the new realities," added Minister Jeliazkov.
The project for construction of a Congress and Research Center is worth BGN 13.6 million and is funded by the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company. "The modern building can be used all year round to host high-end events", Jeliazkov explained at the visit. He pointed out that the location of the center allowed for easy intermodal connections between several modes of transport.
Regarding the ferry connection Burgas-Karasu, Minister Jeliazkov said that a working group was set up, which would specify all the details of its opening and operation. "This line will significantly shorten the sea voyage of freight traffic and we rely heavily on the interest of operators," said Rossen Jeliazkov. He pointed out that there was interest in the establishment of a ferry line Varna-Karasu as well.
