Nearly half a billion BGN will be invested in the railway section Kostenets – Septemvri, stated the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications during the groundbreaking ceremony at Belovo railway station under the project Modernization of the railway section Kostenets – Septemvri.
“A difficult section of 25 km., which implies everything that could suppose railway infrastructure: railway, telecommunications, signaling, facilities, bridges, tunnels, subways, overpasses, etc.”, announced Rossen Jeliazkov. The Minister noted that it is a challenge to construct the link Sofia – Plovdiv in a short period and to add it to the almost completed railway line Plovdiv – Bourgas, as well as to Svilengrad. Thus, railway infrastructure will turn into the most comfortable, most environmentally friendly and most modern mode of transport for great part of the passengers and for great part of the cargo, added Minister Jeliazkov.
We are pleased and grateful that we are modernizing with European resources the infrastructure in Bulgaria that has not been renewed for decades. I am grateful to our European partners from Connecting Europe Facility. I am thankful to the colleagues too who are doing the impossible in this hard moment. Thus, we compensate all difficulties that we faced along the uneasy path to manage the resources during this programming period, stated the Minister of Transport.
