We will insist on the possible revision of the Mobility Package I to adopt texts that will guarantee our national interest. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliaazkov after the today’s hearings of the ministers in Parliament. He specified that the Mobility Package I was included in the provisional agenda and that the final agenda for the plenary sitting of the European Parliament is due to be voted on 25 March.
"There are many conventions and uncertainties, as it is still unclear whether it will be accepted to put the Mobility Package I in plenary," Rossen Zhelyazkov said. The preliminary request is that if the inclusion of the Package is approved, the Commission's proposal should first be considered, then the three dossiers of the Package should be considered as two of them have not been adopted by the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism . The next step is to look at all options and suggestions on individual topics. The Minister commented that if the Package is submitted, it is expected that many texts will be discussed as at the moment no one knows which dossier will be heard.
"Bulgaria and our partners from Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia and other countries who are dissatisfied with the specific legislative proposals included in the Package will insist that the Romanian Presidency does not subject the document to interinstitutional consideration or the so called trialogues with eventual acceptance of any variant. Our opinion is that this issue should be considered in the next parliament," Rossen Jeliazkov said. He added that the struggle of the Bulgarian state is for the creation of a just legislation that serves the European community and not individual national interests. "We are not opposed to the Mobility Package I, we are opposed to the proposed restrictive norms and the protectionism imposed by the texts in the Package," said Minister Jeliazkov.
The Minister reminded that yesterday in Brussels Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also commented on the topic with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, where the position that the decision on the Mobility Package I was to be taken by the next Chamber of the European Parliament was defended.
"At the level of presidents of political groups in the European Parliament, we have a clear support for the Mobility Package I in this form by Liberals and Socialists, clear Conservatives and Greens opposition, and abstention within the EPP. From the political division we have 50 to 50, ie Europe under the legislative package is for the first time geographically and politically divided. It is a precedent - to insist on legislation that divides Europe," Rossen Jeliazkov pointed out.
