By special flight was launched the direct line Sofia-Odessa. This was made possible thanks to the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister of Economic and Demographic Policy Valeri Simeonov and with the active cooperation of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and the Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov.
"The implementation of regular flights between the two countries will improve transport links, strengthen their traditionally good relations, contribute to more active bilateral economic and cultural ties and will facilitate business and tourist trips," Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov said. According to him, the line will allow the historical Bulgarian communities in Ukraine to strengthen their ties with the homeland. Moreover, it will enable those Bessarabian Bulgarians studying and working in Bulgaria to avoid the hard 10-12-hour bus ride.
The official opening of the line was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister of Economic and Demographic Policy Valeri Simeonov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Bulgaria Mykola Baltazhy, Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Angel Popov, the Director General of DG “Civil Aviation Administration” Stanimir Leshev and the Executive Director of “Bulgaria Air” Hristo Todorov.
