The stamps "Olympic Glory 2024" and "Bulgarian Football Legends" complete the collection of philatelic issues for significant sporting events

In Bulgarian philately, the tradition of celebrating significant sporting achievements in the Olympic Games dates back to 1964. This was said by Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova during the validation ceremony of two stamps dedicated to Bulgarian sport - "Olympic Glory 2024" and "Bulgarian Football Legends". The event in the building of MTC was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Georgi Glushkov, the President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Stefka Kostadinova, the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Football Union Andrey Petrov, the President of the Bulgarian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Iliana Raeva, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Bulgarian Posts" Emilia Facheva, public figures, philatelists and others.

Minister Stoyanova highlighted the importance of sports brands, saying that sport and the principles of Olympism continue to unite people. "One of the editions we are launching today is dedicated to our performance in the most successful Olympics for Bulgaria in the last two decades - Paris 2024. I am convinced that the brand in front of us will be one of the most sought after", said Krasimira Stoyanova. In her words, one of the first football stamps in the world is Bulgarian, issued in 1931. "The current edition "Bulgarian Football Legends" is dedicated to some of the greatest legends of Bulgarian football - Dimitar Penev and Hristo Bonev, depicted in landmark matches for the national team," said the Minister of Transport and Communications.

Minister of Youth and Sports Georgi Glushkov emphasized that the "Olympic Glory 2024" edition symbolizes the strength and spirit of Bulgarian athletes who inspire us with their example. "The Olympic podium is the place where our athletes prove that with hard work, perseverance and love for sport all limits can be overcome," Glushkov added. "The brand "Bulgarian Football Legends" pays due respect to the stars of Bulgarian football who have written their names in golden letters in our sports history," explained Minister Glushkov and thanked Minister Stoyanova for the initiative and for the commitment to promote Bulgarian sports achievements.

“Olympic Glory 2024” is one postage stamp in a block with a mintage of 5, 100 pieces, denomination BGN 3.75 and author Damyan Damyanov. “Bulgarian Football Legends” are two postage stamps in a block with a mintage of 5, 100 pieces, face value BGN 1.90 and BGN 2.70  and author Simeon Krastev.
