Today, the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev signed an order saying that the competent state authorities should start immediate actions for the release of the stranded cargo ship Vera SU. For this purpose, in recent days, all responsible institutions have been involved in order to find the best and safest solution and to prevent environmental pollution. The order comes into force today and provides for: safe unloading of the cargo, release of the ship from the shallows of the Yailata area and subsequent detention of the vessel and cargo until full reimbursement of the costs incurred by the State within the operation.
The Executive Director of Maritime Administration Executive Agency Capt. Zhivko Petrov was sent at the scene of the incident for coordinating and controlling the actions taken and is in constant contact with Minister Alexiev.
The irresponsible attitude of the shipowner has led to the full involvement of state institutions in recent days. Minister Alexiev and his team took the necessary actions to ensure the procedure.
"In no way will I tolerate irresponsible attitude towards human health, the environment and unregulated and non-transparent trade interests", Minister Hristo Alexiev said.
