The Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Maria Gabriel addressed the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski with gratitude and congratulations for the extremely important work done in the field of telecommunications, today during a joint press conference. The reason is the achievement of a preliminary political agreement on the Union's Electronic Communications Code. This topic was discussed at the afternoon session of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council in Luxemburg. The session in Telecommunications configuration was presided by Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. The compromise in the difficult negotiations was achieved within the framework of the First Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and it is considered as a great success for Bulgaria.
Today we have made great progress on advancing the Digital Agenda of Europe, Minister Ivaylo Moskovski said during the press conference. He emphasized that a clear legal environment was created to enable businesses and consumers to fully engage in the Digital Single market and to be online, no matter where they are located within the EU. In his words, the political agreement reached will reduce the cost of the international calls and stimulate the investment in high-speed networks.
Maintaining high standards in cybersecurity in the EU was one of the key priorities of the Bulgarian presidency, Minister Ivailo Moskovski summarized after the debates on this topic. He added that intensive work is being done on finding solutions that guarantee the citizens' privacy protection, personal data and the communications’ confidentiality in a way to allow the digital innovations development.
"The Commission's initiative for a Directive on the reuse of public sector data is also very important for boosting trust in online communications," said Ivailo Moskovski. In his words, today's debate can help European companies, start-ups and developers in fields with high benefit, such as artificial intelligence, to get the data they need for their work and research.
A policy debate on the reuse of public sector information was held within the session in Telecommunications configuration.
