We thank the European Commission for supporting the initiative of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications to organize a Ministerial Summit during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, stated Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Angel Popov during today's meeting with the Deputy Director-General of DG for Mobility and Transport in EC Matthew Baldwin. The Deputy Director-General and representatives of the EC are on a visit to Bulgaria to discuss with experts from MTITC the organization of the conference "European Intermodal Transport for Better Connectivity of Europe", which will be held in the period 19 - 20 March 2018.
We envisage at the conference to bring together key stakeholders from the transport sector at European and national level as well as representatives of the Western Balkans, said Deputy Minister Angel Popov. He expressed content that the EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc will also take part in the event.
In his turn, Deputy Director-General Matthew Baldwin congratulated the Bulgarian side for the active preparation of the Presidency and expressed his consent and support for the program in the transport sector. In his words, finding a common balanced approach and consensus on transport themes is of paramount importance in reducing administrative burdens and developing common rules.
The legislative dossiers in the transport sector, which are expected to be discussed during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, were also debated during the meeting and an emphasis was placed on the proposals from the Road Package.
