7 projects worth 414 million BGN are currently being evaluated under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2024-2027. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov during the opening of a round table organized by the Chamber of Builders in Bulgaria and the. "Builder". He specified that five of the projects are for the construction of railway and port infrastructure. The other two are for technical assistance for the construction of a railway link with Plovdiv Airport and for the development of the Plovdiv railway junction.

"The implementation of the preparatory activities under the Transport Connectivity Programme is yielding results and more and more of the projects envisaged under it are being approved. The construction of the Ruse - Veliko Tarnovo Motorway is already underway and construction works are underway, with the submission and approval of the application form under the Programme, which is crucial for achieving the set financial targets," the Deputy Minister noted.

"The measures taken are complemented by the actions of the state for the development of the railway transport within the approved investments under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan," said Deputy Minister Nedyalkov. In his words, more than BGN 1.4 billion is the amount foreseen under the RDP for the purchase of new railway rolling stock. The first electric shunting locomotive, under the project for the delivery of 9 electric shunting locomotives, has already been manufactured and is in operation. Two more are expected by the end of this year. The contract for the supply of 20 single-deck zero-emission electric multiple unit trains is underway.

Deputy Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov also said that under the Connecting Europe Facility the European Commission approved the project “Improving navigation conditions in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section of the Danube - FAST Danube 2” worth EUR 230 million. The implementation of this project will improve the transport connectivity of the Danube region with the rest of the European Union.
