Vehicles with exhaust-related faults will not be stopped from driving

The amendments provide for an increase from 14 to 30 days in the time limit for rectification of defects

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published for public consultation amendments to Regulation H-32 on periodic roadworthiness tests of road vehicles. The Regulation is published on the website of the Ministry of Transport and on the Public Consultation Portal of the Council of Ministers - https://strategy.bg/ for a period of 30 days.

We would like to remind you that by order of the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov a working group was formed to review the texts of Regulation H-32. The experts concluded that the exhaust emission defects did not directly affect road safety. Until now, these faults were classified as "dangerous" and the vehicles were stopped.

The current changes to Regulation H-32 provide for vehicle exhaust emission deficiencies to be classified as "significant". In this case, vehicle owners are given a period of time to rectify them, after which they undergo a technical inspection again. Another change in the Ordinance provides for the removal period of 14 days to become 30 days.
