Interactive videos in the theory tests will measure the knowledge of driver candidates. The videos were presented to the media today by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov and the Executive Director of the Executive Agency ‘Automobile Administration’ Boiko Ranovski.
‘One of the biggest differences between new and experienced drivers is the speed with which they spot and react to hazards’. Combining exam questions with graphic images and interactive videos will help to assess the reactions of examinees more effectively,' Deputy Minister Nedyalkov said. He said the additional elements in the theory tests will help new drivers be better prepared so they can keep themselves and others safe. This will lead to more responsible drivers on the road and fewer accidents, Dimitar Nedyalkov was adamant.
Ninety-nine per cent are sure that unprepared candidates cannot pass the theoretical exams, Boyko Ranovski said. Currently, 30 per cent of those who appear drop out due to insufficient preparation.
The inclusion of videos in the theoretical test for driving licence will come into force on 1 July 2023. They have been developed by a university team and are modelled on the visual materials for the tests in Germany. Their content has been consulted with the training schools and undergone public consultation.
Each test will contain 2 questions illustrated with interactive videos. Each of the videos included in a particular test will be watchable by the candidate up to 3 times, after which he/she will have to answer a question related to the situation presented.
